Over the past 44 years, Balaji Grand Bazar stores have emerged as a destination of choice for customers by virtue of the range of products, assortment, and services that it offers.

The brand is planning to add 5 more stores in the coming months and expand its presence in more gated communities, office premises and premium street locations in Telangana.

Balaji Grand Bazar’s first store, spanning 360 sq. ft, was launched in 1958. The brand has come a long way since then – from just one shop in Hyderabad to 12 stores in Hyderabad and Secunderabad today. The brand, which is led by Sunil Kumar Agarwal and assisted by Prateek Agarwal and Darpan Agarwal, plans to add 5 more stores shortly.

Balaji Grand Bazar stores are situated majorly in the gated community society locations and high-end premium streets of Hyderabad/ Secunderabad. These stores are running in a customer- convenient and easy-to-shop format so as to meet the customer demands at par with the facilities offered by competitor stores/ Hypermarket stores, and online digital ordering platforms.

Over the past 44 years, Balaji Grand Bazar stores have emerged as a destination of choice for customers by virtue of the range of products, assortment, and services that we offer.  “Today, we have a large supplier base comprising 800+ vendors and 1000+ brands of FMCG/ Staples, etc. Together, we are partnering to ensure maximum reach for the products and for our services to the customers in Hyderabad/ Secunderabad,” says Sunil Kumar Agarwal, Managing Director – Balaji Grand Bazar (Sunil Agarwal Group)/ Hyderabad.

Balaji Grand Bazar, which pioneered private label products in stores, is synonymous with customer delight and satisfaction. Today, it is one of the most well-established departmental stores in Hyderabad, offering an ideal mix of the traditional and modern, a range of varied products from leading Indian and International brands under one roof.

Every Balaji Grand Bazar store is classy, elegant and spacious with exquisite interiors and pleasant decorations focusing on the concepts of ‘high quality’, ‘freshness’ and ‘friendly service’. The product range is diverse – from groceries to fresh fruits and vegetables, toiletries, cosmetics, dry fruits, food grains, edible oils, organic and herbal products, biscuits and chocolates, etc, from leading Indian and international brands.

An option for every consumer

Balaji Grand Bazar has a central distribution system, which ensures that the shelves are always filled with options for consumers. Its warehouse, situated at Puppalaguda- Manikonda-Narsingi Road in Hyderabad and spanning 25,000 sq. ft, is equipped with all modern amenities. Aside from a variety of products catering to a wide audience range, the brand is also upgrading its upcoming stores with multiple floors for shoppers to browse and buy from, as well as making provision for ample parking space. Aside from coming to the stores – which are following all COVID protocols – Balaji Grand Bazar has its own app through which customers can place their orders.

To enhance consumer experience, it has gone deeper digitally with tie-ups with brands like Dunzo and Swiggy. All Balaji Grand Stores offer more than 20,000 SKUs comprising food and non-food options, specialty fruits and vegetables, herbal and organic products and imported merchandise. It also has special counters for sweets and savouries, chaat and refreshment, and home furnishing to name a few.

Balaji Grand Bazar is also working to introduce customer rewards and loyalty points for its regular customers. ‘Customer satisfaction and delight’ is its motto. And the brand always ensures to provide best services, superior quality products at affordable prices to the consumers. Even before the onset of the pandemic, it had found that consumers were getting into health and specialty categories. Towards this, the brand has worked on introducing organic products, herbal products and specialty products.

Technology is key

All Balaji Grand Bazar’s warehouses and stores are connected with live data management systems. Recently, the brand has introduced GPS tracking for tracking all the deliveries, ensuring they reach the correct address within a stipulated time period. Over the next few months, it is also working to improve its app, make it even more consumer-friendly. It is also working towards revamping its website to offer superior services to the customers.

Future Plans

The brand is planning to add 5 more stores in the coming months and expand its presence in more gated communities, office premises and premium street locations in Telangana. It is also looking to strengthen its backend system so as to offer a better shopping experience to consumers. However, it feels that e-commerce players offering deep discounts are a threat for traditional brick-and-mortar retailers. The owners feel that the monthly shopping basket of its consumers has already shrunk as compared to what they buy from e-commerce players.

After the pandemic break-out, consumers are visiting the stores only to buy basic essential like pulses, staples, fruits and vegetables. However, Balaji Grand Bazar is countering this through exciting offers which will keep its regular consumers coming to the store as well as attract new consumers. Aside from this, the brand has a very clearly defined roadmap in place to cope with the pandemic fall-out, which includes ensuring the best quality service at competitive prices to its customers.
